4.) Since the termination of the Merced County Economic Development Corporation, (MCEDCO), Buckley Merced Vice President/General Manager, has become a member of the Merced Boosters group. This non- profit organization is comprised of local business owners and managers whose goals are to improve the community. They feel that a healthy business environment encourages growth of existing business, and helps to recruit new business to locate in Merced County. These improvements help to create more jobs and lower our ongoing double digit unemployment. The Merced Boosters recently revived their Economic Development committee, and our Vice President/General Manager was invited to be a member of that group, because of his extensive experience with the MCEDCO organization. This committee helps with the recruiting of potential new businesses and they also work with Local, State and Federal governmental agencies to try to make the process easier for both expansion of existing businesses, and the development of new businesses.By contributing his Radio marketing knowledge, our V.P./G.M. has been an asset to the group, which meets on the third Thursday of every month. During these meetings participants network with fellow business leaders, and share what opportunities they have in their businesses, including Buckley Radio, for potential new employees. They compare ideas on how to recruit, and train new hires.

5.) Buckley Radio is an active participant of One Voice of Merced County. Our Vice President/General Manager is a founding member of One Voice of Merced County which was formed in 2003 and continues to be an active member. This group was formed to lobby, in Washington D.C and Sacramento, for projects that would improve the quality of life for local citizens. Throughout each year, One Voice members, gather with groups of people, a cross section of all segments of the community…Women, Minorities, Civic Clubs etc., to discuss what is lacking in the county, which could be funded with either Federal or State

grants or legislation. The group targets Education, Transportation, Economic Development, Water, and Law Enforcement issues. The Merced County One Voice group has lobbied for many educational programs; the majority of these programs were targeted at minorities and women, to create training programs to help the participants find jobs. The lack of job skills is extremely high among local women and minorities and the improvement of those skills will be essential for them to find improvement of those skills will be essential for them to find employment. One Voice was successful in acquiring monetary funding for local area transportation projects. All of these efforts contribute to job creation in Merced County. Buckley Radio Merced’s goal of reaching out to the entire community is enhanced by our V.P./G.M., as he has developed relationships with many of the participants who represent various organizations. By communicating with these One Voice committee members, they now have a greater knowledge of career opportunities in the broadcast industry . They share this information with their staffs and hopefully they will encourage more job seekers to consider a broadcast career at Buckley Radio.
